Majestic Las Vegas to Begin Construction Next Spring

The nongaming resort is slated to open in 2023 across from the convention center.
Majestic Las Vegas, a resort slated to rise on the spot of the former Clarion Hotel on Convention Center Drive, has cleared regulatory hurdles and now has a target groundbreaking date of May 2020. Developer Lorenzo Doumani’s nongaming, $850 million project will be a 720-room, all-suite luxury resort, scheduled to debut in early 2023. Doumani imploded the Clarion back in 2015; activity has since picked up across the street, however, where the new Las Vegas Convention Center addition is slated to open in 2021. The property is two blocks from the Las Vegas Strip.
Majestic promises six standalone restaurants from star chefs, a landscaped pool area with 50 cabanas and a live-entertainment venue. The casino-less resort also will tout a focus on health and wellness, and feature a 70,000-square-foot, four-level fitness, nutrition and medical spa facility. Doumani claims Majestic will be a state-of-the-art medical-wellness destination, complete with personal nutritionists and comprehensive executive physicals.
Levels 51 to 60 of the 620-foot tower will be sold as corporate Sky Suites, which will be on the market in quarter-, half- or full-floor options for corporate tenants to customize. Suites will feature 16-foot ceilings and panoramic views of the surrounding skyline.
“It is time for Las Vegas to provide a luxury option for those who visit our city who want something that is nongaming,” Doumani said. “Whether you want to relax in the lap of luxury, host a meeting or event in your own corporate space, facilitate an executive retreat or launch a new product, Majestic Las Vegas offers the ideal marriage of sophistication, luxury and strategic location.”
Architect Paul Steelman designed the building to look futuristic while paying homage to the La Concha design of the 1960s. The La Concha Motel, the restored lobby of which now houses the Neon Museum Las Vegas, was opened by Doumani’s grandfather in 1961.
